Backdoor:Formador found in DVDFab folder after install

Two files in “C:\Program Files\DVDFab 6”

  1. is-9KVFE.tmp
  2. is-IVVGR.tmp

Is identified by Norton AV as “Backdoor.Formador” Backdoor.Trojan.Client can someone at Fengtao Software explain?

DVDFab software was downloaded directly from your web site

avg does not detect anything.

Neither does Kaspersky, it could have hooked onto Fab from another infection on the computer. But the Fab install has no viruses.

It was a fresh install not an update. Try to uninstall DVDFab from the system, and do a fresh install, Norton Corporate detected and removed those fies.

from past experiences with Norton everything was a virus or some sort of threat, it does not have a good track record.

I do agree Norton could be fricking out because of the file names, but for me this is the first time it happend. I did try to uninstall DVDFab an reinstall it again, this time no virus has been detected, but registration remain.

Take it from a LONG time Norton User, Systemworks, etc…get rid of Norton. Symantec is a pig on your system and when I moved over to AVG what a huge difference. I’ve seen the posts on this for years and ignored…in recent month I made the switch. It you want to pay for AVG they have versions with RootKit, Firewall, etc…however, if you want a solid FREE package solution…use AVG Free for A/V+ and also Comodo for free firewall.

A/V+: http://free.avg.com/
Firewall: http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/index.html

Lastly, CCleaner (FREE) to cleanup crud on the computer and registry

I agree wholeheartedly…I think I was using Systemworks 2004 when I bid farewell to symantec for the very last time and that was on 6 pcs.

CCleaner is great freeware to have…a no brainer.

I didn’t realize Comodo was still freeware, but it’s decent as is Zone Alarm freeware. I use both ZA freeware as well as a hardware fw.

My preferences for av freeware are 1) Avira (if you don’t mind the occasional nag screen), 2) Avast and 3) Avg.
Nothing wrong with avg, but in my experience 1 & 2 catch more.
