p.s dvd+r works great…just couldnt remember which one i needed at the time of purchase and remembered seeing dvd±r on my laptop…hopes this helps

Would you mind posting a DVD Decrypter log to show exactly the error?

Also, if you’re just burning, try using ImgBurn. It’s an updated burning engine related to DVD Decrypter.

DVD writers in laptops are notoriously finicky when it comes to DVD/CD media & the media may not be good quality media.

Also, IMGBURN is an updated version of the old DVD Decyptor writing engine, so I’d recommend you download & use that instead of DVD Decryptor (DVD Decryptor will write images to your HDD, or you can just use the build image option in IMGBURN).

When you use imgburn, it will tell you the MID of the DVD’s you are using.
It’s recommended that you post what the Media ID of the new DVD’s are.

It’s most likely that the DVD’s you’ve bought/burnt are not good quality, and therefore incompatible with the DVDwriter in your laptop - and potentially most DVD writers (I’m not kidding).

Welcome to the forum meeshe, if you are trying to copy a commercial dvd then you need a program that is updated as dvd decryptor is no longer updated. You can use dvdfab hd decryptor as it free and updated regularly. But just so you know everytime you use the free decryptor your 30 day trials are being used for dvdfab gold and platinum.

Try lowering the writing speed to 4x (or even 2x).
Laptop drives aren’t great.

Although, I suspect that the problem may actually be that the drive just can’t burn this media correctly.

I would suggest that you check for a firmware update for the Drive, but sony are notorious for not releasing updated firmwares.

You might find something here: http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php?sid=84b1ff380f69db6f18c6241b1f25b93c
If you look at the bottom left, you there are the dangerous brothers & a few others which might have a newer firmware for your particular drive model.

Your burner seems to be a rebadged lite-on drive.

dam laptops…lol thanks i will try again

#12

you should lower the burn speed to 4x as max is too fast. As for the failure someone else who uses ImgBurn all the time can help you with that. Boy I am a slow typer today

I have lowered and samething happened.

As a quick fix, I’d recommend that you go to the store & get some Verbatim DVD-R/DVD+R media & try that at 4x.

But as a permanent solution, I’d recommend searching for an updated firmware for your burner & installing it so that it recognizes media better.

thank you i will do that and post what happens… thanks again for helping me out tonight.
