AVI vidio clip only plays with VLC media player

I have a AVI video clip that will only play with VLC media player and I would like to convert it to play on a stand alone DVD (divX) player. I have had no luck to date. :frowning:

My player will play the audio but says “unsupported video codex”. Most other programs simply can’t read the file.

Your divX player won’t play it? drop in Gspot, see what codec is needed…
What about an avi to dvd proggy, like ConvertXtoDVD or DVDFlick, The Film machine…etc…

thanks trying ConvertXtoDVD now :flower:

You might try IVC. It’s free and has worked fine for me with the different formats I have tried.

I have AVI clips to play and i was recommended VLC media player but am unsure how to download as in which one to download as there are many on the website thanks.

The version you need depends entirely on your operating system. If you are using Windows XP or Windows Vista, simply click on the Download Now for Windows on the right side of their home page: http://www.videolan.org/

If you are using a different operating system you should pick it out of the list on this page: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
