Contrary to the French, the Aussies are at least taking steps to do it right. :B

And before The Australian Government did this nobody in oz ever ripped to an ipod. Yea and the world is flat to.:r

People did rip their CD’s to MP3 players , but it was illegal. This will make it Legal. Allowing people to record Radio & Tv , with digital radio comming this won’t make the RIAA , ARIA happy. On-the-spot fines for those who profit from piracy this should be another positive. Yes Target those who profit not the Kids of Oz. This just introduces a bit of common sense , which has been missing for years.

In case anyone’s wondering about the DETAILS… here they are: * YES, it is now legal to rip music from CD onto other formats… but only if the CD cover doesn’t expressely forbid it in tiny writing. * YES, it is now legal to tape a TV show onto a VHS tape… but only if you erase it after watching it once. It’s all in the fine print, no?

Ok now that it’s officially legal to copy them over to another format, they should ban the companies from putting copy protection onto the discs in Australia.

Don’t forget to erase your tape after each use. Can you do that? Wonder how they feel about a pc tv capture card and a dvd. Do I have to erase that to? Kind of hard with a -r disc. Why Why always these stupid disclaimers with everything a goverment comes up with. Except for a few tree huggers this changes nothing. Oz is a pretty cool place with lots of smart people who I doubt your going to slow down any time soon.
