If you don't like them, why'd you buy the 9800XT?
Ati's early day cards had a few nasty glitches and of course theyy kinda sucked. But these days they've resolved them
Of course, I remember a couple of nasty screw-ups in Nvidias past as well, and not so much in the early days as much is in very recent times
Overheating issues anyone?
I think maybe you should take each card for its merits
Given that the X800 series is ever so slightly faster than the 9800XT at higher resolutions only, and introduces no new features that will really effect the end user, I'd say wait for PCI-X and ati's next generation card rather than a revamped 9700/9800 GPU.
Of course, if you are considering buying a new High end card cos you have only a previous generation card, I'd recommend the X800xt over the 9800XT of course
Upgrading to a faster card right now, when you already own a 9800XT would be the biggest waste of money in the known universe, or at least a close second
The biggest would be:
In the early 70's, USA's Nasa spent millions of dollars designing and developing an ink pen which could be used in space by astronauts, where gravity is non-existant, or in gravity upside down/sideways, etc.
The USSR being more literal minded, and having a lower budget, used a pencil
