ATA version of Samsung SH-S203B?

Hi Friends,

yesterday I bought my Samsung SH-S203B with Rs 1400/- (INR) from DCC, Pune, India as its recommended by most of the cdfreaks users and it has got Editors Choice award.

But, my ASUS (K8N) MB only have 2 SATA ports which are already occupied by 2 SATA HDDs (80+160GB), so there is no room left for the new SATA DVD writer. Please suggest me a solution for this. I have few options below, plz recommend me one…

  1. purchase a new SATA-to-IDE converter/adapter/PCI card (which is a costlier affair)
  2. replace the SATA DVD writer with a ATA one ( But which model will give me such performance as SH-S203B, may be Lite-On LH-20A1H)
  3. remove one SATA HDD (80GB) and keep it in my self :frowning:

Plz suggest me a good option wt you think will be good for me.

Is there a ATA version of SH-S203B ?

Buy a sata pci controller card that has the silicon image 3114 or 3512 chipset for your s203b drive.:wink:

There are a few PATA versions: S202G, S202H, S202J, and S202N (w/LightScribe), no idea how one fares against the other.
