At wits end with DW-D22a

I have spent the last 12hrs (on and off) trying to figure out what the yo is wrong with my drive… I have read countless threads on numerous sites and no luck… I am ready to rip my hair out.:sad:

One day I was able to use my DW-D22a to burn DVDs and one day I go to use it and It just says PLEASE INSERT A DISK IN DRIVE D:

It can’t READ/WRITE any DVD’s but I can READ/WRITE CDs.

I went to hardware and Uninstalled many times it that way and still didn’t work…

I deleted the lower value in the REGISTRY… Still Didn’t work…

I had NERO 7 and I uninstalled it and still didn’t work.

Rebooted 45,000times and still didn’t work…

Tried 3 different harddrives with WINDOWS XP and still didn’t work…

I updated FIRMWARE to BYS6. still didn’t work…

Also this just happend a few weeks ago with my HP DVD WRITER 630c…
It wont read or write DVDs either.

Those two drives haven’t been hooked up at the same time…

I have a regular DVD ROM drive that READS DVD’s fine.

Can anyone please help me? It can’t be a coincidence that both drives would die around the same time could it?:a

Have you done a system restore lately?
Looks like your drives been mixed up somehow. (Once this was a problem on win2k OS’s. Never seen this on XP though.)

BTW, how are your drives hooked up. Nero InfoTool might be helpful to display this.

i disabled restore… but that shouldn’t matter…
i’ve tried it on 3 different drives… with no luck…

what do you mean how are my drives hooked up?

How are they connected?

through a ribbon cable?

I believe chef is asking how they are connected in the sense of:

HDD 1: Primary Master
HDD 2: Primary Slave
DVD writer: Secondary Master
DVD ROM: Secondary Slave

…Or the like. :iagree:
