Hi,
Is C502 the latest firmware for the Asus SBW-06C2X-U?

#7

C502 is the Drive’s shipping firmware. Do you find any firmware update from the official site?

Unfortunately I’ve been searching the web and as of yet I can’t even find a site that holds firmware for Asus SBW-06C2X-U. Do you have any suggestions?

#9

I don’t have any special problem on this Drive. So I don’t need firmware update immediately.

Has anyone got ASUS SBW-06D2X-U? Which rebadge is it?

#12

is a Optiarc BD-5750H, which I have published some scans

Writer: Asus SBW-06D2X-U
Firmware: 1.03
Media: Mediarange BD-R 25GB 4x
MID: (MBIR06)
Burn Speed: 4x
Software: Nero 12 Ess.
Burned 2017
Scanned 2017

I think it´s one of my worst results with that media.

I´m sure the Asus is not a Panasonic or LG, maybe Pioneer?

My Asus SBW-06D2X-U 1.03 is a rebadge of Pioneer BDR-UD03ASW

@Tester_1, is there any way to tell which drive is used by ASUS “from the outside”? I’m considering buying one on an auction, but I have already an Optiarc drive, so would like to be sure that I get a Pioneer

Drive manufactured in October 2017:
SBW-06D2X-U
Factory ID: SP1
15100-02610400

Do you have the chance to look at label of your copy?

Looks a bit different

But I´m surprised to see an Optiarc drive with this manufacturing date

I don´t have this Optiarc, but I´m not a fan of this Pioneer slim-drive. My LG BU40N looks overall better in burning

@Tester_1 sorry not to be precise enough. Above attached photo is of an unit that I was considering to buy, and since the factory code is same like on yours, then I assume that it will be same drive inside. I own an original Optiarc internal drive, and I was relating to post of @fitsch from 2014, where he mentioned that ASUS was using Optiarc drives - that’s why I wanted to make sure, that I don’t get another copy of similar drive
Pity to hear about inferior performance of this Pioneer model, maybe I will skip it.

OK, I get it.

The Asus/Pioneer is not a bad drive if you don´t use MBIr06 and if you get it cheap it should be OK for you.

But theres a risk with Asus, I don´t know how many different drives/manufacturer they use. My external DVD RW is from LG, like the Half Height Drives from Asus.
