Asus E616P2 DVD-Rom PROBLEMS

Hi friends, i have a E616P2 DVD-ROM from ASUS and i have the this problem : when i read some dvd disc, i read it ok, but i put some cd disc and the drive dont recognize them, i put again any dvd disc and the drive reads it.
i need to restart the computer to can read a cd disc, but if i put some dvd disc without restart the computer, the drive dont read it, just reads cds.

Update your IDE chipset drivers and try again…

i try updating IDE chipset drivers and problem remains, i try with the unit on other computer and is the same story. Can be a failure on the unit?
