Asus has a new hardware revision of the DRW-24B1ST i out. Current speculation is that it’s a clone of the yet to be released Lite-On iHASx24 E.

It uses a MediaTek MT1882N chipset.

Here are the reported features:

Were these with OverSpeed turned on or off? (I know they were at speeds that don’t require OS, but just curious).

Does the drive respond to enabling Forced HyperTuning or Online HyperTuning? (FHT is probably forced if OS is enabled, but I don’t know if it is always on or…).

It seems like the drive should have better write quality. :frowning:

I’m not sure. I haven’t tried it. What should it do when I enable those options?

Yeah, I definitely agree with you here.
Does the drive respond to enabling Forced HyperTuning or Online HyperTuning? (FHT is probably forced if OS is enabled, but I don’t know if it is always on or…).
They seem to make some difference, but not necessarily positive. I burned a Verbatim 16x DVD+R AZO silver “branded” (MiT) [MID: MCC004] with Force Hyper Tuning, Online Hyper Tuning, OverSpeed, and SmartBurn tuned on. I chose 8x. It burned at 4x instead. I got a disc that my BenQ won’t recognize, my LO iHBS112 won’t scan (L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR), even the DRW-24B1STi won’t recognize.

Trying again just to rule out a random bad disc…
Trying again just to rule out a random bad disc…
A 2nd blank that was easily recognized by all 3 drives prior to burning did the same thing except the ASUS pulled the L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR when trying to scan it. The other two drives wouldn’t even recognize the burned disc.

The BenQ DW1650 would not recognize the disc.

I didn’t expect those results.

Hopefully someone else gets the drive & has better results. It would also be nice if a firmware update could help you.

ASUS DRW-24B1ST i 1.00
Verbatim 16x DVD+R AZO silver “branded” (MiT)

Drive burned at 4x instead of the requested 20x. Resulting disc does not read in my iHBS112, DW1650 or even the DRW-24B1ST i, so no scans.
