ASUS DRW-1608p3S wont burn (bad sectors)

hey all whats up? i just put a new ASUS DRW-1608P3S in my fiance’s pc. here is the issue, it seem to have the new 1.24 firmware and it wont burn dvd’s. it always says having a problem skipping bad sectors. i have no idea what to do, i hope its not messed up because its a brandnew drive.

please assist me somewone.

Skipping Bad Sectors? Where on the source media? During a verify?

Care to provide some kind of error log?

What kind of media? Use DVDInfoPro and post a Media ID.

Problems verifying a disc usually occur because the media is crap and not written successfully. Just because media write completes doesn’t mean it has done so successfully. The burner is only capable to flagging gross media defects during the burn.

Maybe it just has an 40 wire IDE cable? It requires an 80 wire one.
