Asus BW-16D1HT

Hello guys,

I’m having troubles crossflashing my ASUS BW-16D1HT to BH16NS40.

However, it says the drive is not recognized. What I’m doing wrong?
Could anybody please make and upload the firmware dump from BW-16D1HT drive?

Dump can be made by DevilClaw’s flasher with this special command line:

flasher -d [drive id] -l firmware.bin 6 00000000 00200000

DevilClaw’s Flasher can be downloaded here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/flasher/files/

Get your [drive_id] with this command line:

flasher -D

Many thanks in advance!
If it’s still actual, i’ve uploaded the dump here firmware.bin

If you are trying to use Flash Utility:
Flash Utility is for older LiteOn drives only. This is an LG drive.

Aha, I see, thank you!
Is it possible to reflash it to LG drive then?

Actually, I’m having some problem (or maybe it’s not a problem) with the drive - If i insert DVD media (motherboard installation dvd, for example), and try to boot my pc - it hangs for about 20-30 seconds, until the drive detects and initializes itself (although i selected harddrive only as a boot device). The same thing happens if I insert this DVD during Windows 7 boot. Do you know if this is normal behavior of the drive or is something wrong?

If someone interested, I’ve patched the BH16NS40(1.03-A0) firmware program updater to allow every drive to be selected.

BH16NS40(1.03-A0)-patched.zip

Also, file selection is made available. However, I do not know how to test it since I don’t know where to get the binary files.

Thank you VERY MUCH for the dump and the patched flasher!

Here are some BIN firmwares compatible with BH16NS40 hardware:

BW-14D1XT dump is still missing… :frowning: Quite rare drive, it seems.

I wonder what is the best firmware then…

Actually, my bin file is not working - if I select it, it say “Checksum is not matched”. Do have to correct it in some way?

I also wonder how it’s possible to make it RPC-1 drive.

Yes, look at the bin file of BW-16D1HT included in archive - need to change header and some other parts of the raw dump to make it work with the official flasher.
