I got my first Blu-Ray Writer ASUS BW-12B1ST last week, did some research, and found out it's an iHBS112 rebadge.
Also bought a pack of Vinpower Optical Quantum 6x OQBDR06LT-25, which turned out to be LGEBRA-S06-000, which some people have some good results and some bad.
Been having issues since Day 1... Tried ImgBurn, bundled Power2Go7, and Nero 10. Basically I was trying to back up some files to around 90% mark, and in all programs it burned fine on 4x. However, all failed eventually at around 60%-70% into verification. Verification is also painfully slow @ 1x-2x max.
Also tried crossflashing to iHBS112's PL05 out of desperation, and it still failed like the other attempts.
4 coasters so far out of 4 attempts :
ImgBurn (Asus FW) - Disc unreadable afterwards
Power2Go7 (Asus FW) - Corrupted files (disc spinning but reading speed drops to 0MB/s)
Power2Go7 (PL05) - Corrupted files
Nero 10 (PL05) - Corrupted files
Right now I'm trying to determine whether it's the drive that may be bad, or just the media that's poor in quality, or maybe this drive/firmware combination doesn't like this particular type of media...
