Just bought this on newegg, can this be cross flashed to a liteon?
What tool do I use?
Thanks to point me in the right direction.

Look HERE and HERE.
Hope it helps.
I own a BW-12B1LT (same as yours, but with Lightscribe; it’s merely a LiteOn iHBS212 rebadge), I succesfully crossflashed it with the above method.

Thanks, CVS helped me and I am going to try tonight.

thanks for this thread!
After hours of reading though, I’m not sure why people are crossflashing?

Is there a specific feature you get out of it?

#5

ASUS does not update firmware very often. In fact they have never issued an update for this drive, Liteon has issued several. I bought this one over the Liteon because the price was much cheaper.

I just wanted to run through the process before I run the crossflash of my
Asus 12B1ST to a IHBS112

  1. Download the PL01 firmware and the unlocked AL18 flasher
  2. Copy and paste the PL01 firmware into the unlocked AL18 Flasher
  3. Flash the drive making sure that the flash states PL01 and the destination
drive is the BW-12B1ST and reboot afterwards
  4. Using the Liteon PL06 flasher upgrade to the latest firmware

Thanks in advance to anybody that can confirm or correct this, budzos

All correct and don’t forget to back up the original EEPROM before crossflashing.

Thanks for the lightning reply! I will back up the EEPROM also.
Which tool is confirmed to work for this backup?

I also had a PIO 219L in my box and the flasher would crash each time I tried to paste the PL01, I had to unplug the PIO and the the flasher worked and I cross flashed to the IHBS. Great burner for 40 bucks AR.

Thanks for the info, I’ll make sure I put the drive in a tower without any
Pioneer drives for the crossflash. I have about a dozen choices but that will narrow things down a little.

Thanks again 2601, I’ll be flashing things some time tonight after
a couple of beers so its better that I have all my ducks in a row
to prevent any mistakes.

You should download the binary PL01 firmware at #198 of this thread.

Thanks, thats the one I downloaded. I already dragged it into the flasher
to see if it would work and it came up as the firmware to be flashed.

Operation Successful!
Thanks to all who assisted in any way! Drive was purchased for a scanning drive so scans will follow…

For some unknown reason the scans run very slow. I have tried several things with no luck so far. Is this a bug or is something wrong here?
Thanks budzos

I just purchased one of the asus bw-12b1st drives and would like to update to the Liteon IhBS112 firmware. I’ve been trying to download the bins listed in this and linked threads but keep getting message that link is no longer valid or files are no longer available. Can any one help?
Thanks.
