Intel i3 CPU
AsRock Z68 Pro-M motherboard
8GB RAM
Windows 7 64
I just got an ASUS 24B3ST, as I understand it's actually a rebranded LITE-ON mediatek chipset. I needed a SATA drive for my new motherboard. I use CD-RWs a lot - to listen to music in the car, then erase and write something different on them. I have 5 Memorex CD-RWs that I've used several times on my old IDE Lite-On (which I now regret selling). I tried using ImgBurn, Nero CD Speed, and Foobar2000 to erase 3 CD-RWs; they did not erase. One was blank; I used Foobar2000 and Windows Media player to write to it, and it didn't write - Windows still saw it as blank. These CD-RWs worked fine just weeks ago before I bricked my old motherboard, and on my work laptop, etc.
What's going on here? Do I need a new drive? A different drive? Is it worth crossflashing with LITE-ON firmware? If so, how do I do that?
Any advice would be appreciated.
