Is that normal? Shouldn’t it read it at 16x, or is 16x only for DVD-ROM media?
The model is the E616 (oldest) with latest firmware
most (probably more like all) dvd drives read recordable media at slower speeds because their readability is lower compared to pressed dvds.
yep, thatz pretty normal for read speed from consumer DvDs. even the latest drives are pushing it to max read @ 12x…
alot depends on media brand compatibility too.

Any reccomendation for DVD-ROM drive with good recorded DVD reads? I’ve heard good words for Lite On & Plextor brands.
