Assertion failure

Hi,

I’ve run into this error twice: Assertion failure (C:\Workplace\SCSI_layer\U_ModePage.pas, line 2481). First time it was in Full Disc mode, second time in Main Movie mode.

Same error occurs after rebooting. Any idea what the issue is?

Regards,

Simon

P.S. IFO files attached

I have been unable to make discs for over a week getting the same assertion failure message. I’ve downloaded the latest updates and have rebooted often. Any help out there?

I have never seen this error. It appears to be realted to the burn engine (DVDFab shows Finalizing Task 2/2). Try using ImgBurn instead of whatever you are using (Common Settings->Write). More information would be helpful: Hardware, OS, burn log etc. Possible software conflict?? Maybe someone else has seen this and solved it.

#4

try doing a clean re-install of dvdfab located in this link http://club.cdfreaks.com/2065659-post1.html follow the directions exactly as said. let us know if this fixes your problem

I am getting the same error (it comes back over and over as soon as I clear it), but my burned discs are playing o.k. I have to use task manager to end the program. The when I restart DVD Fab, it comes up one more time and will clear untill the finalization of the next bun.

I have uninstalled/re-installed and that did not fix it. I am going to do the COMPLETE uninstall next and see if that fixes it.

Are you guys using Avast ant-virus by any chance?

#6

Nope - using Norton Internet Security. Will check last disc to see if it plays ok. Still getting the error. Have not yet done the complete uninstall - scared of step 9 b/c of the warning for those who do so to do so at their own risk. I am not at all familiar with the registry editor.

Sorry did not mean to scar you with the warning :flower:
it is just to inform everyone that you need to be carefull what you delete in the registry.

If you send me a PM with some info on your rig I can and will put together a better indepth step-by-step guide for you on doing those steps

Stormjumper—you seem to be in the know here. Do you think this is a software issue and I should just wait for the next update? I haven’t gotten around to do a clean uninstall yet because I also don’t have alot of experience with the registry and haven’t had time to read the instructions carefully.

I have a store bought presario with XP, 3200+ AMD, 512 RAM, and an Aopen DVD burner.

try ImgBurn instead of VSO.

#11

Forgive my ignorance but I don’t know how to do that. Walk me through it?

#12

Don’t know how to do what? quote the post you refer to as there more than one since you last posted. Then someone can explain how

I think my good friend Maineman may be busy. He has lots of chores recently :). To post a burn log, open Notepad and select file->open and look in the location in Maineman’s post. The file you want to open is in a folder called Logs and is named dvdfab_burn_vso.log. When the file opens you will see groups of lines that show a record of each burn. Single click and drag your mouse to highlight the first (topmost) two or three groups then right click and select Copy. Now come back to this thread and click reply to open the post editor. Click in the editing window and type your message, then right click and select Paste. The text from your log will appear in the post.

When I choose Imgburn, it says my computrt failed to locate the program. is the program suppsed to be included with DVDFab, or do I have to get it somewhere else?

#15

download from http://www.imgburn.com/

#16

You can get it from http://www.imgburn.com/
Edit, too slow.

Thanks, guys. I had already done a search and found it. On the first try, The burn completed and I still got the assertion failure, but it cleared after the first click. It didn’t lock up DVD fab. it seems as though I had to give the program access. here is the burn log:

Just getting around to posting my log - been too busy. As you can see I have made several attempts to burn DVDs with DVD Fab and still am unsuccessful. Still getting the assertion failure mentioned previously in this thread. Anyone that can walk me through trying to fix this - I would be very grateful. I’ve been unable to burn for nearly a month and the latest update of DVD Fab is dated 9-6-08 and I have uninstalled and re-installed several times. HELP!

Hey, I’m back after 2 weeks with no power. I live in Houston and Ike paid me a visit. :stuck_out_tongue:

Changing to ImgBurn resolved the assertion failure error. Thanks! The only issue I have with this solution is that ImgBurn requires some manual intervention during the burn but I assume there are some settings I can tweak to make the burn automatic.

Glad to hear Ike didn’t kick your butt! Thanks for your reply. I don’t want to be a pain in that same butt how do I change to ImgBurn?
