Aspi

Since i installed Blindwrite suuite including the patin couffin engine , i dont seem to have an ASPI layer.
Does anyone know how i can verify this?

or is the patin Couffin thiing effectivley the same thing as an ASPI layer?

Also, does anyone know how i can tell what version of directX i have installed?
tia

I believe the force aspi program can tell you what aspi layer you have.

On the Direct X, Start, run, dxdiag. Dxdiag is the M$ tool for Directx, it should be able to tell you the version of direct x and whether or not the hard ware drivers are right for your machine or not on M$ compatable list(the WHQL)…

Hope this helps

great and efficient reply - i dont know how the hell u guys know all these little tricks.

Whats the latest DirectX today?
Does force aspi work with XP?
Can i have an ASPI installed when i already have patin Couffin Installed?

When you install Blindwrite it asks you if you want to use the VSO driver or the ASPI layer. Which one did you choose ?
You can change this option from the control panel if you want too.

By the way my problem is that when i uninstalled BlindWrite the pattin couffin configuration wasn’t removed from the control panel.Anyone knows how to fix that ?

-i choose the vso one.
-try uninstalling from the device manager

Is this a link for Directx 9.0 as one complete file? - 30MB seems pretty big …

Has anyone installed their ASPI layer from force aspi on winXP? If so tell me if it works OK. (the thing that has me is that the same ASPI from force aspi is instaled on both Xp and 98se)

I use ForceAspi 4.6 on WinXP Pro and have never had any problems with it.

ForceAspi 4.6? I guess you use the adaptec layer, since Fore is only in the 1.1x range, AFAIK…

yes, you certainly know

I dont know where I got 4.6 from, it should read 1.7
sorry for any confusion

why do big companies like MS like to allow u download tools, like direct X without giving you a complete file (like the link above)

I hate when you cant get an app as a whole file 'cos after a format it takes ages to dload on a 56k
