Arthur Lee Dies At 61

Arthur Lee, who forged a legacy as one of rock’s great visionaries and forbidding eccentrics while reigning briefly with his band Love as princes of the mid-1960s Sunset Strip, died Thursday of leukemia in a Memphis, Tenn., hospital. He was 61. Link
So talented, and their albums still get heavy play around the old homestead.
RIP Arthur…

I heard this on the radio at my mum’s yesterday…a sad loss, and a very influential guy…

Yes, saw this too last night… slightly before my time but a real shame nevertheless :(.

He appeared I think last year on our (BBC2) music show ‘Later…’, and performed three songs plus a short interview. I must dig out the recording, because IIRC he stole the show on that night.

The Boss called me this morning to let me know and promised to spin “Forever Changes”, one of the most influential albums of the time…
Love was a very influential group and put on quite a show… Saw them at The Whiskey in LA and was blown away…
Things like this make me realize how old I really am…and feel…

It’s amazing how many of today’s bands list Love among their influences. I can think of at least 3.
