This is driving me nuts. I have a Sony Vaio laptop, about a year old. Everything else works fine. I would like to do regular burns to CD. I write, play and record songs in ProTools and every so often I like to burn the latest mix to CD, play it on the living-room hi-fi and make sure everything's balanced, etc., so far.
So I am burning one half-finished song to CD, still to put the vocals on or whatever, listening to it then chucking it in the bin, then adding the vocals, etc.
When I have gone through this rigmarole, oh, a hundred times, I have enough completed songs to burn a full CD of them, then I move on to "my next album".
The trouble is, only about 1 in 100 CDs will let me burn, which holds up the whole process.
I've maybe spent three days doing the guitars, bass, piano and drums, but I can't burn the freakin' thing to listen to how it sounds so far!
When it DOES actually burn, I like to burn them as Wave files via iTunes: so I record my song, save it as a Wave to desktop, then open iTunes and burn it to CD...
TDK CD-Rs, 50 from Zavvi for £9.99, coloured blue, work a treat, 100 per cent perfect. Any other CD-R, whether cheap crap or expensive good stuff, I get almost no burns at all.
Now it's become a crisis because Zavvi has shut down and when I ordered more TDKs from Amazon, I got these TDK Life On Record, silver things which are just not working.
Maybe 1 in 100 burns successfully, the rest it gets to anything from 2-90 per cent then I get various error messages from iTunes telling me it's failed.
I have tried every CD-R and CD-RW imaginable, every burn speed, you name it I've tried it.
Why do these blue TDKs work every time, yet nothing else does?
If these aren't available any more - and my order from Amazon suggests they aren't - then I am @**@ed.
Might as well sell my guitar, piano, etc and slit my wrists.
This is my life!
Hopefully I will be able to add a pic of the TDKs; to me, they seem the same, same price, etc, but the blue works and the other is crap.
Thanks for listening!
