Are TDK Velocd writers Liteons?

Someone on this forum said the newer TDKs are Liteons, is this true?

Before warned TDK does little to show the difference on the outside of the box. I thought I was getting a Plextor and ended up a Rioch.
The firmware is also TDK. You would have to flash your drive to make it another drive and if done incorrectly it will kill your drive.

BAH! TDK buys from whoever they can get hardware from cheapest that week. You never know what you are getting… :Z

It seems that TDK uses a certain combination of chipsets, transports, motors, etc. that are conducive to being flashed to read as Lite-On drives. I’m not sure if this means they’re the “same” drives or not…
