Are Pioneer optical drives manufactured by other then Pioneer?

as they are not included under drive manufactures here.

Can’t say, Flux. I know Sonys are many times rebadged LiteOns, and “Maddog” burners are many times rebadged NECs. I have read where some I/O Magics are BenQ (like the 1655), while some are BTC (bad burner, by the way). Really depends on the brand, but usually you can discover which ones are rebadges and what models the rebadges are if you check the “CdFreaks Bargain Basement” or some of the posted threads in the respective Optical Drive (Burner) forums.

No, Pioneer makes their own. Seems like a lot of people miss it, it’s the Asus DVD Burner / Pioneer DVD Burner forum. I guess people see Asus and stop reading. I’m not sure why Asus is first, since Asus just puts their name on Pioneer drives, but it’s there!

Rumors are going around of joint deals by PIO with others. So It may not be true in the future.

Yeah, actually many manufacturers “join forces” to keep the production prices down…

and combine technology, like the new amd and ati merger… should be cool to see a ati chipset…

ATI already makes chipsets, but they aren’t that good (bad USB performance)…

(deleted) wrong thread…
