Are lousy CDSpeed tests for CD-RW's common?

the top test is from a infodisc memorex cd-rw which is labeled and burned at 10x
the bottom test is a cmc imation cd-r labeled at 32x and burned at 24x
both were burned from the same cue sheet

i wasnt doing any video editing or :Z ing into my computer for the cd-rw test, so is it normal for a cd-rw to get such crap speeds? or could it be the media?

im using a liteon LTR-24102B

The Lite-On LTR-24102B is not very good at reading CD-RW, but it should read at 16x CLV (constant linear velocity). This means that it should start reading CD-RW at 16x and continue with this speed throughout the length of the disc.

The test results of this burner with CD Speed should look like This. Complete test results are available at Lite-On LTR-24102B IDE CDR-W.

You could try different CD-RW media and see if it makes a difference.

well nevermind, scandisc says that the last half is damaged. sorry for not checking that before the first post

anyway, so why would that happen?

I would suspect the media.
