I have spent the last several months scanning and electronically labeling old family photographs. Now it is time to get ready to distribute them at my upcoming family gathering Labor Day weekend.
I am looking for suggestions of methods and software. If needed I am glad to use more than one software package. While I would hate to say "money is no object", I am glad to spend a reasonable amount on the project. As a long time programmer I am fairly technical in general, but have only mild experieince with burning CDs and DVDs.
At the moment the photos (about 1000) are scanned as high resolution .tif files with embedded ITPC comments, identifying the people, date, location, owner of the photo, etc.
In my ideal world I would like to create a DVD (I assume, but I am open to CD options) which family members could use to enjoy the photos on their TV's, but could also use to print copies of the photos on their computers.
Since there are so many photos I would assume I would want a DVD menu that could organize the photos - The Meeker Branch, The Jones Branch, The Twelve Grandchildren, etc.
I am not sure if I would rather have background music and/or narriation, or text (ideally pulled from the ITPC info) visable.
I would be very interested to hear how others have tackled this and any tips about how to be sucessful.
Thank you so much for your help.
