AR-230 No Disc

I purchased a Gateway AR-230 in Feb. 2004. Worked fine until a few days ago. Every time I put in a disc it tries to read it then says NO DISC (tried all types of discs). The drive is a LiteOn DDW-401S. Serial Number displayed on setup screen is 400143-1121-E253 (100 0109). I tried updating the firmware I received from Gateway which updates to version 1163 but I think this is if the current version is 1139. But even if it is a firmware issue I still can’t get it to recognize any discs - NO DISC message. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Time to RMA the unit or replace the drive.
