Apacer has announced its SSD caching solution, a PCI Express x1 add-in card featuring 32GB of SSD storage and an SATA port for the hard disk to apply the cache.

interesting … but this seems like it might only be useful for upgrading older PC’s … the odds are that it’s not particularly cheap, and not particularly fast either.

Why didn’t they just implement something that sits inline with the HDD? Rather than takes up a (valuable) PCI-E slot.

A little 32GB module that takes power and sata cable in, then power / sata cable to the HDD.
How much harder could it possibly be?
