Anyone with a BTC DRW1008IM that have wrote discs at 8x? READ IN

Is there anyone here that have wrote discs at 8x with a BTC DRW1008IM drive?

Especially these discs:
Mitsubishi 8x DVD+R (MCC 003)
Taiyo Yuden 4x DVD+R (YUDEN000T01 revision 1)
Ritek 8x DVD+R (RITEK R03)

Please PM me, I have some questions for you conserning 8x speed with this drive. (Yes I have the drive here for doing a review of it).

Still No-one that have wrote any discs at 8x with this drive?

Even at 4X it writes bad DVD’s, I can imagine at 8X!!!

…yes, there is a reason why you have not yet seen a review of this drive.

I’m trying to figure out if it really is this bad or if my drive is defective (BTC Europe thinks my drive may be defective so they have told me to not publish a review yet).

OC-Freak can you try to figure out why if I turn off my PC for a while and just after I turn it on and burn a DVD it gets with a more or less decent quality, but the second I try to burn is horrible. (This happens with a memorex DVD+RW at 4X and with the same data on it).

I don’t believe is heat or something like that, because I always have:

CPU Temp = 36º
MotherBoard Temp = 37º

Can it be something about the laser?

I already tried to take off the media from the drive and let it rest for a long time, but the only solution is turning off the PC.

I haven’t burnt anything at 8x, but at 4x it seems to work decently well. I’ve gone through a spindle of 50 DVDs and only had one totally coaster. I had about 2 or 3 that was difficult to read in my other desktop optical drive, but they read find in the btc and my thinkpad’s drive.

oh, all my media is Ritek G04’s that I bought from newegg that come just wrapped without a spindle.

The BTC drive has very good read capabilities.

Have you tried to use KProbe to see the quality of your burns?

kprobe locks up my desktop hard when it starts to do the read, so I gave up on using it.

I’ve burned about 5 R03’s already at 8x. No problems at all. They are from a 50 disc spindle I bought from NewEgg.

Speeds available on Info Pro shows 1X, 2X, 4X, 6X, 8X.

Whats your question?

Try the written ritek r03 in nero cd-speed. Just a normal transfer rate test.

Look at the graph - do the drive slow down reading the disc at the end?

btw - what firware did you use?.

Im using Firmware 0256

Let me try the CD-Speed test. Will post in a few

OK I’m all done. No drop in speed when reading.

i havnt been able to get a hold of any 8x media to test it…

however 4x has been successful… using some memorex dvd-rs

and i have successfulyl burnred 50 dvdrs … Fry’s GQ brand… the cheap ones… i got 50 for $40… only advertised as 1x media… but the drive let me burn at 2x… all 50 were burned succesfully… and finished all these 50 in about a month…
