ANYONE TRY? Super Zero DVD-R or DVD+R

Anyone have any luck with this type of media or the DVD+R alternative of it. Was reading on http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm that daxon media is similar to sony media and super zero also sells rebranded DAXON016S.

The Media Spindals look like the following

Super Zero…?

what a tempting name…

One of the 8x -R spindles looks like Ritek G05 :open_mouth:

I’d only try the +r 8x and 16x media. The -R 8x is too risky!

Daxon is one of several companies that makes the Sony media (outsourcing, but using SONY ID).

Taiwanese Daxon is pretty good. And for whatever reason, the Sony seems to be a good bit better than the Daxon brand. You don’t see much Daxon-branded Taiwanese Daxon anyway, so not a big issue.

Malaysia Daxon is crap, as is Malaysian Sony (likely more Daxon).

Super Zero is not a brand that inspires confidence. If it uses a Daxon code, odds are that it’s Malaysian, which means it’s likely to be crap.

It’s a gamble.

What about the name ? Super Zero !

Zero IS Zero no matter what you call it , is it Zero PIF/PIE/Jitter ? or Zero readable areas ?

Bought the 16x DVD+R as in above photo. Looks like its malaysian. Should I pick up the Super Zero 8x DVD+Rs? I think that there code is DAXON016S. Anyway here is the read from the 16x DVD+R.

DAXON AZ2 & AZ3 has been really good to me if I get the MIT stuff. As was said before, Malaysian Daxon DVD media has been a crapshoot for me with even the better stuff not up to MIT standards. On the other hand I really like Malaysian Daxon CD-R’s. It’s just their MIM DVD media that isn’t worth a toss.

Would you consider posting some scans of your Super ZeRO burns? I’m curious to see how they scan. If you’re not happy with them, I’d leave Super ZERO behind and get some reputable discs. IME Daxon’s +R is a bit better than their -R anyway.

Daxon AZ3 has been poor media for me. Scans are ok but compatibility with players is terrible. Multiple friends of mine reported discs not player/skipping etc.

Sorry Im returning the media and my drive doesnt support quality scanning although my friends might. Has anyone had any luck with DAXON016S? I’m using them for DVD-Videos and not archive. Thanks for your reponses so far. I would have wasted money with these discs.

What is your location? I would like to know where these are showing up at.

DAXON AZ2 has been decent for me , but AZ3 is a different story .
The funny thing is that new 20X LiteOn drives support AZ3 burning @ 18X

Im located in New Zealand.

If the package doesn’t say anything, is there a way to distinguish DAXON AZ3 made in Malaysia discs from made in Taiwan discs (serial numbers in the discs, etc.). Or the only way is if we get poor burns = Made in Malaysia?

Well I notice that Taiwan and china are very proud of what they make so I’m guessing that when I picked this up and it said nothing that it is from Malaysia. So if its unlabeled i say its from Malaysia but its just a guess.

Well exchanged the 16x dvd+r for 8x dvd+r but the code is still thus

Oh well. Just trying to find good media and I end up with poo!

This stuff is sold here: http://www.blankcd.co.nz/dvd-r-super%20zero.htm

Both DAXON016S and SONY16D1, Made in Taiwan.

Is this what you bought cr9ck?

yeah same stuff but not where I bought it from. I recommend getting the Excel branded Optodisc R16 from the same site. Nice and cheap but good burns (limited testing).
