just got a GH22NS40 drive since i can’t find anymore GH20N… but just wondering which chipset is this drive running on?

Panasonic or Renesas??

can’t seem to find any info on google

thanks!

Do you already have the Drive? Please look what firmware version it has. If it is like 1.x i think its panasonic, and if it has letters like XY00 i think its Renesas.

#3

yeah, i got the drive. This is a shot of the label.

#4

So, NL00 seems to be Renesas

#5

Me Too Renesas
it looks like a Mede in Korea
and another New Model

You can always burn dvd with cd/dvd speed at 8x (panasonic starts at 4x) or you can insert a dvd-r and see what burn speed you can select (no 12x with -R with renesas).

Good point :iagree:

Thank you Arachne.

I wish LG would make it more obvious which drive has which chipset. I have a liking for Renesas LGs, and sometimes even doing a lot of research here on CDF doesn’t tell me if the drive I’m eyeing up is Renesas.

Any particular reason?

Curious to see how they burn, or you just want one to complete your LG collection, hehe
