#2

What error code are you seeing?

#3

:sad:no code tv stays black i just get 3 flashin lights on the 360

#4

google “rrod”, there is a lot of information.

Usually there will be an Error code such as E73/E74

It might just be a simple case of the cables not being hooked up correctly. Try completely unplugging all the cables and reseating them. or even try different cables if you know someone else with an xbox.

http://forum.teamxbox.com/showthread.php?t=472553. is a good resource.

You will need to break it down and install new hardware, clean and replace the cpu/gpu compound and replace the Xclamp to get a better heat conductivity to the CPU/GPU.

http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/repair/ring_of_light_x-clamp_fix.htm

You can get kits off ebay for not too much money.

You can use any thermal paste you like but Arctic silver is very good. To find it here in oZ just go to http://www.staticice.com.au/ or http://www.shopbot.com.au/ I use static ice myself seems to get better prices. Weekend Computer fairs are a good source for most things too.

If it’s less than 3 years old you can get Microsoft to fix it as long as the warranty sticker is still on.

AS you already might know the Red Ring Of Death (RROD) is a heat problem caused by the (bad) design of the Xbox 360. In these cases the temperature gets too high and the glue between graphic and CPU components melts, cuasing the heat sinks/coolers to get off the components.

If it is in warrany (and please check before you open op your xbox!) then get it to xbox. In 9 of 10 cases your xbox will get a motherboard replacement. Do not ever send in your harddisk. memory card or faceplate when UPS picks it up.

If it is not in warranty, but you’re not that good in toying with electronic components, bring it to the closest radio shack or something like that. Get it repaired for a couple of bucks while you wait.

banning doesn’t take it out of warranty. If it does, that sucks.
