Mr. C did some revisions to AVStoDVD recently, and released version 2.8.2. I installed over the older edition I had in my machine, as I usually do, and didn't really think much about it as I have had so few problems in the program.
But this time AVStoDVD will not import .srt subtitles without hanging up on my computer. It finds them if the subtitles are in the same folder as the video file, but stalls out and will not import anything at all. I had to shut down the program. If I deselect the subtitles, the video is imported as usual, but if I then try to add them manually, the program once again hangs up indefinitely.
I've posted in the AVStoDVD help thread over at Videohelp.com, but thought I'd ask if anyone around here is having the same problem with the program. I'm using Windows 8.1, 64bit. Uninstalling, then reinstalling 2.8.2 does not help.
Reverting to version 2.8.1 solves the subtitle importation issue, so there is some sort of glitch in the program itself. I just don't know if it is a common problem, or is an interaction with my particular hardware or my operating system.
