After looking at some surplus tape libraries and searching around on the internet, I have found out about optical libraries.
Basically an optical library is a robotic mechanic for loading disks from a caddy into a drive or drives, somewhat like a (you guessed it) jukebox.
I am intrigued by this concept. I can see the advantages over a tape library in that as soon as a disk is loaded (Plasmon claims 3 seconds), any area on the disk can be accessed relatively quickly.
I was wondering if anyone has come across these or has any practical experience regarding either hardware or software.
