40126S.....I hope this refers to the new 6 series mediatek chipsets..and these maybe upgradable with firmware to 48/24/48 speeds that the new 6 series chipset is supposed to support

I saw this when I opened the Utlity......hit Smartburn button....

Remark:
Since LITE-ON 32/40/48X CD-RW drive, Buffer Underrun Protection
Feature is always activated. The new feature of SMART-BURN is
to check CD-R/RW media quality and set burning speed limit
base on this. The burning speed will be limited by the
"SMART-BURN Speed Limit" shown on PC screen.

The identificated SMART-BURN Speed is matched with updated LITE-ON
40X CD-RW drives, LITE-ON will keep on update the version just for
more media identified

I didn’t notice the “6” but I will go back to it and see if it shows up on my version of 48x the smartburn utility. That should indicate that the new chipset is due out very soon. I can’t believe that we will be able to upgrade to this new one from the old “5” chipset. That would be an amazing feat if they could achieve it but I do not think they would want to.:cool:

I keep looking on Pricewatch because they seem to have these drives way before they come available on the manufacturer’s website. So far no “6” for the Liteon.

I would buy one immediately provided it still did EMF encoding 100%. :bow: :bow:

the problem with the new 24x rewrite speed will be finding 24x cdrw…

I suspect the 6 series drives will be out within 1-2 months in retail sector
