AnyDVD 6.1.8.4

These issues have all been reported and are being worked on. I have no problems with Blades of Glory region 1 since 6.1.8.4 was released.:disagree:

While I can understand the frustration of people when problems arise I think you a blowing this out of proportion and exaggerating.

At present I am only aware of a few discs that legitimately don’t fully work with AnyDVD 6.1.8.4. A full disc backup won’t work for Blades of Glory but you can make a movie+menu backup. I have no idea about Meet the Robinsons since I don’t have the movie. Nonetheless, it’s only a few movies.

You go on to say that DVDFab works far better these days. You do read the DVDFab forums, don’t you? I do. With the addition of the PathPlayer technology into DVDFab there have been numerous older movies that suddenly had issues being backed up. This pretty much sounds like what is happening with the two movies being discussed and AnyDVD. So, DVDFab isn’t perfect either. Problems appear and then they are resolved.

People need to realize that a lot of time went into the rewrite done with AnyDVD. There are bound to be issues here and there. I think the issue with Blades of Glory will likely be found to be a small one that just slipped through the cracks.

I guess what bothers me the most [beyond the exaggerating] is that you appear to be shilling and recommending people purchase competing product and you’re posting this in the AnyDVD forum. That doesn’t sit right with me.

Just my 2 cents.

Could you clarify this statement? A lot has been discussed specifically about Blades of Glory. It’s a confirmed problem and has been for a couple days.

Numerous recent reported problems aren’t the fault of AnyDVD and have been cleared up but I am sure there are other discs that can’t be handled correctly. There is a list of such confirmed problematic movies posted in the Slysoft forums. I’m sure the problems will be resolved sometime soon.

Why are you making a mountain out of a mole hill?

This is new stuff for both Fab and SlySoft and teething problems can be expected. Whatever problems exist - and they are sure to be complex (after all, a DVD player is being simulated; every button push, every navigation command etc) - will get fixed. Reporting the problems will give the developers the heads up they need to fix the issues (the automatic saving of important files in recent versions will also make this process easier).

Yes, it can be frustrating that the new stuff doesn’t work 100% out of the box (especially if you have paid for it), but there are usually alternatives around while the developer fixes the issue (which is typically a very short time).

Regards

@blutach

:clap::iagree: Absolutely correct.

I agree, very sound. Good post blutach.

My apologies if this has been reported but I have not seen it. On 2 seperate disks I have just burned, AnyDVD shows the following:

RCE protection not found.
ERROR: AI Scanner has failed, error 12!
Found & removed bogus title set(s)!
UDF filesystem patched!
Autorun not found on Video DVD.
Found & removed 7 potential bad sector protections!
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!

Neither disk will play unless I disable AnyDVD during playback. Both seem to work fine in my PC (with AnyDVD disabled) and DVD player. I am using Verbatim +R media. I have never seen this until this update.

Tristyn, one thing you could do that would be helpful is to enable the AnyDVD logging in the settings, rescan the disc, and it will create a zip file in your My Documents folder. If it’s small enough to post here that’d be great. Otherwise the Slysoft forum has been updated recently to accommodate those files, so you could post it there. That will give a detailed log that may help us determine the problem for you.

K. I have another DVD in the “oven” right now with about 30 minutes to go. I’ll try the logging soon as that is done.

Thanks!

Here it is. This is read with my second drive, not the drive that wrote the DVD. The same occurs with either drive.

I just saw on Slysoft’s forum that some of those filters I have running can be problematic. Since I didn’t even know I had Sonic installed it was quite a surprise to see those there. It looks like my HP scanner software installed that on my system. I’m digging around right now to see if I can figure out how to get those out. Wish me luck. Once that is done I will try again.

Roxio and DirectCD are notorious for causing system and program conflicts. I would uninstall them to see if that doesn’t fix the problem.

I uninstalled what I could but things have not changed other than wacking my drives. Thankfully that is now fixed.

I have burned over 600 DVDs on this system and never saw this problem until this latest update to AnyDVD. Why should it be a problem with filters that have been on my system for months and/or years? Let’s get back on topic please.

Now, one other piece of information. I modified both of the offending DVDs with VOBBlanker. Once again, this has never been a problem before so why now after the update?

BTW, I disabled the AI and they still will not play with AnyDVD enabled.

The Hoax Region 1 with Richard Gere cannot be backed up using the latest 6.1.8.4 AnyDVD. I also tried just the main title, still no luck.

You need to go to http://forum.slysoft.com and answer questions 8, 9, and 10 from http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=321.

If this is a disc that AnyDVD 6.1.8.4 cannot backup, Slysoft will be unable to fix the problem unless you do this.

I will post the AnyDVD Summary below. I have done all the things on the thead. I have tried cloneDVD 2.9.1.2 as well as Rip-it-for-me along with DVD Decrypter also. Have using DVD Decrypter for 1hr 28min so far trying to backup the main movie only & I am @ 99% with constant unrecovered read errors that I have set to ignore. If it ever finishes I will try to use the files to backup with CloneDVD.

This is being worked on as we speak by the developers at Slysoft, I am sure they will have a fix for it soon. We will have all the answers right here, most of our members are very knowledgeable and as soon as it is updated you know right within minutes.

Sabine, if you are able to, can you run that disc through Nero CD/DVD Speed and check it for errors? That would be extremely useful. Thanks!

Sabine, please try another source disc, I have spoken with others and this disc seems to be not a problem. It is possible you have a bad source disc, do as SamuriHL asked and we can tell you more.

We don’t get paid enough. ROFLMAO! Oh, right, we don’t work for the company. Maybe they should pay us! LOL!
