AnyDVD 3.6.2.1 will not launch under XP SP2!

I am taking a wild guess but it looks like Slysoft implemented ASPack/ASProtect code into the latest AnyDVD 3.6.2.1 – because I know there is a bug in the current ASPack code that prevents all apps that use it from working at all under XP SP2. I have this problem with several other “core” apps I use, most notable Cinema Craft Encoder and let me tell you its a real pain!!

ASPack sucks, not sure why Slysoft would choose to start using it now but I guess they are trying to stop piracy. Anyway as a legitimate owner of the software I now cannot use it anymore.

p.s- this is under RC1, as well as b2120 & b2126, they all have the problem.

HELP!

AnyDVD uses ASProtect since the very beginning - as does CloneDVD and a lot of other applications.
Maybe it is something related to ASProtect, maybe not.

Anyway, as you are a legitimate owner, you should contact their customer support. Maybe they can help you.

Thanks Olli, yes I have contacted them and await their reply. I will post the results.

Hi, AnyDVD 3.6.2.1 does have problems on some configurations. We have received a lot of complaints. We will release a fix ASAP.

Sorry.

Please try this version:

Let me know, if it fixes your problem.

Well I tried it, it did not fix the problem – I still cannot run AnyDVD. It gives me an error dialog immediately, from ASPack I believe:

CPU: GenuineIntel, Intel Pentium 4, MMX @ 3200 MHz

I got exactly the same with 3.6.2.1 and 3.6.2.3 running Windows 2000 SP4. I recently installed Security Fix Q835732 and some other to prevent my system to be infected by Sasser or Gaobot / Phatbot Worms.

Please let me download 3.6.1.1 again, because I unfortunately deleted it as I downloaded the new version 3.6.2.1.

Another try:

Let me know, if it fixes your problem.

YES!!:iagree: problem fixed by 3.6.2.4, for me anyway. Thanks!
Can you please post/elaborate on the specific fix-- I have some other software that suffers the same problem under SP2 and I would like to inform the developers of the solution. Thanks.

Good! We will announce 3.6.2.4 on our website.
The change which fixed your problem: We changed to a different version of ASprotect (1.23 RC4 build 08.07). So you were right, the problem was caused by ASProtect.

Here we go again… v.3.8.2.2 same exact problem. Looks like they updated the asprotect code again. Grr!
this time using XP SP2 RC2 2149
help!! I need my AnyDVD!!
