Any Recomendations for a Defragger?

I’m looking specifically for a FREE defragging program that will
consolidate free space.

Any suggestions?

Raves?

Negative opinions?

hi try …google…DEFRAGLER

are you sure it has only one “g”?

I was previously happy with the organic defragger in Win2k
but recently the tab for and thus the ability to run a boot time defragger has disappeared!

With a boot time defragger I could really consolidate things but I
can’t do that anymore…

according to the piriform page it will defrag individual files
but it says nothing about doing free space defragmentation

Free space defragmentation prevents the NEED to constantly defrag,
by eliminating the primary source of fragmentation.

AHHH… I found it by doing another search, it DOES do it…

Check this link: http://www.instantfundas.com/2008/10/defragment-individual-files-and-free.html

I use the portable version of Defraggler and several others.
Smartdefrag
Quicksys Diskdefrag
JKdefrag
Auslogic defrag

I like to have options.

UltimateDefrag

I use Smart Defrag, it seems to work very well.

Ok, got and downloade defraggler off of File Hippo and it seems to have finally “slain the dragon” I was trying to kill some defragged files on my boot drive that ALL previous attempts to clear up failed.

THANKS!

Now to figuire out why the “boot time schedueler” disappeared
from my diskeeper…

I’d consistantly done boot time defrags of my two "problem children"
drives, my boot drive and “Scratch pad” drive

But I can’t do that because the option simple isn’t there anymore
no, not “greyed out” just no tab there…

http://www.iobit.com/iobitsmartdefrag.html[/quote] That’s my favourite so far. I also use Piriform Defraggler occasionally for defragging just the files.
