Any differences between Sony DRU-500A and Pioneer DVR-A05 writer media?

This is a compatiblity question:

I have a Panasonic 360 standalone DVD player and the DVDR’s from my friends written with a Pioneer A05 work fine.

But, the Pioneers are out of stock and they only have the Sony 500A.
Is there a chance that the Sony written media will not ot less be compatible with my Panasonic player??
It’s not use in buying a DVD writer if I can’t play the movies on my Panasonic player.

One more thing,
DVD+R/W, why do we need the + format, what’s it really for?
Is it for your data/sofware on PC?

There are DVD+RW 2.4x media available widely while there are only DVD-RW 1.0x media. (If you are willing to pay $1.x or $2.x or more for DVD+RW media instead of cheap DVD-RW available for about $0.6 or $0.8.)

There are other Plus advantages but better use the Search or browse other threads a little.

There is DVD-RW 2x media available: www.alternate.de sell it for 12 Euro each
