I didn’t find any information about differences. All technical data are the same. Probably SH-S203P is newer than SH-S203N. Maybe some new revisions of hardware? No idea

I made some more investigation about S203N/P firmwares:

Firmware: TSSTcorpCDDVDW SH-S203N SB01

Overall supported media types: 317

DVD+R9 supported media types: 26
DVD+R supported media types: 75
DVD+RW supported media types: 37
DVD-R9 supported media types: 14
DVD-R supported media types: 101
DVD-RW supported media types: 43
DVD-RAM supported media types: 21

Firmware: TSSTcorpCDDVDW SH-S203P SB00

Overall supported media types: 336

DVD+R9 supported media types: 29
DVD+R supported media types: 80
DVD+RW supported media types: 37
DVD-R9 supported media types: 16
DVD-R supported media types: 108
DVD-RW supported media types: 43
DVD-RAM supported media types: 23

SH-S203P has few newer ids codes, some older disc are more restricted than in SH-S203N.

But this doesn’t explain different firmwares, there has to be some hardware changes PUH/CPU etc.

Finally I get my SH-S203P (SH-S203N isn’t available any more). I get some pictures of the main PCB. Now You can compare with other models :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for posting the pictures

I have a SH-S203N and it is built on the same chip; i.e., MT1859LL. I believe the PCB layout/design is also identical to the SH-S203P.
