Any boot disk in winXP?

I just got winXP and I can't make a darn bootdisk. I can format a floppy and tick "Make ms-dos boot disk" but that only makes it so when I reboot I get in dos and can only access A: promt.

Anyone know a way to make a boot disk that will have CD-ROM support AND be able to read NTFS drives? I can use my old winME boot disk (so I have cd-rom access) but it can recognize NTFS drives, so if I need ANYTHING on the harddrive, I'm SOL.

I loved dos and still do. There will always be something inside of my that makes me feel like a "hacker" when I'm typing in 128 words of command line on a black screen in numbers that only the most l33t (read: elite) could understand.

You shouldn’t need any boot disks, the WinXP cd is itself bootable.
Should you actually need them though they are available for download from Microshit.

Thanks for the web-site. I got a custom bootdisk made but it still won’t access my NTFS drives. I now am on a mission to get a program called NTFSDOS professional. It will alow me to access all NTFS partions.

Darn, MY winxp cd is not bootable. It site there a few seconds during boot sequence, scanning cd, but then goes on to windows. Wierd.

Why yes ,there is… It’s called linux and that has NTFS reading support. Its kernel fits on a floppy and you could boot from it.

Dos doesn’t make you elite … asm does

Windows XP Home Edition:

Windows XP Professional:

Also try this:http://www.tweakxp.com/tweakxp/display.asp?id=1029

Hope that helps.
