Annoying problem

I’m using the CloneDVD/AnyDVD combo to back up my DVD collection, and I keep getting an annoying scenario:

The movie completes the burn process as normal but will not play on my Bose DVD player or Xbox (fails to load anything at all), yet plays on our Samsung DVD/VCR combo. It’s happened three times with three different movies, and all with the same media. However, I’ve been using the same kind of DVDs for several other movies and have had no problems with them at all. Can anyone offer me a solution to this annoying, frustrating problem, please?

My only thought would be if you are using +R when your XBox only reads -R media… Maybe you just got lucky with previous burns working…?

What has changed?

Does your XBox still read the other ones that had worked before?

Search the forum for KProbe and scan your discs (both non-working and working) to see if there is a big difference.

Every other movie that I’ve burned works fine on my Xbox, and on the Bose DVD player. I’ll check out Kprobe.

I burned another backup (from the original backup that didn’t work) onto a TDK DVD rather than a Sony and now it works on my player… go figure.

@ Jbutts,

The problem you are reporting is most likely caused by DVD media incompatibility between your DVD Burner and the particular DVD media you are using. If you are experiencing difficulty with your DVD media it is prudent to insure that your DVD Burner has the most current up to date firmware available for your DVD Burner installed.

To determine the current firmware of your DVD burner use a software utility similar to DVDInfo Pro (http://www.dvdinfopro.com/).

Suggest visiting the CD Freaks DVD Forum (http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=61) for information on obtaining the latest firmware available for your particular DVD Burner. The folks at the CD DVD Forum are very knowledgeable and have developed various firmwares that optimize the full potential of your particular DVD burner.

Also could you provide the Manufacture Name/Model Number/Firmware Version of you DVD Burner? To acquire this information use a software utility similar to DVDInfo Pro (http://www.dvdinfopro.com).
