When I saw DVDFab announce their Android Mini PC, this is the first I heard of an Android set-top box. Sure enough, from a quick search there are many makes and models on the market, most about the size of a 3G Internet dongle.
Basically what they do is effectively make your TV function like a huge tablet, but using a wireless mouse/keyboard instead of touch for input.
From a quick look at Amazon UK, sure enough there is a fair range of models, mostly priced £30 to £40. Many seem to be re-badges of an MK802, such as this example. While most have an Allwinner A10 Cortex-A8 CPU (1 to 1.5GHz), I haven't come across any with a Tegra GPU such as what upper end Tablets have.
If anyone has such a unit, it would be great if you could share your experience, along with mentioning the make/model of your box. I'm also curious to hear what apps do or don't work, particularly pay-TV apps such as Netflix or any web browsers.
Finally, does anyone know if there will be an upcoming Android box to look out for? I plan getting one and would rather hold off if I know there is a model with a better GPU, etc. due in the next month or two, especially since I never heard any news about even the current generation before.
