AMD today announced the specifications of its upcoming Radeon RX 480 video card that should offer the performance of $500 cards while they are sold at less than half of that. The card is the first using AMD’s new Polaris chip.

I’m willing to bet AMD won’t be making any free (as in freedom) drivers available, meaning the user will have to either install proprietary drivers (which BTW probably won’t work on Ubuntu 16.06, due to some change that apparently got made to the X Windows System), or third-party drivers, which will take lord-knows-how-long to write from scratch (presumably without AMD’s help, and without any hardware documentation).
