Amazingly low sales tax in the US. If it goes to good things it might strengthen the economy of the state who gets it it in the future and not looses it as it is now.
Sales tax in Sweden is a bit higher - 25%…
The government in the USA, at all levels, already gets plenty of revenue. They waste too much of what they get already so giving them more is just lunacy. The reason politicians here want more many is so they can buy more votes through government handouts.
The USA and Europe are drowning in debt because governments have spent far too much money and now they tax, and regulate, the private sector to the point it is killing economic growth. The days of living on credit and over taxation is coming to an end because this is an unsustainable system we have allowed to exist.
BTW, more taxes NEVER strengthen an economy. Tax increases only stifle economic growth. If Amazon wants a sales tax implemented then they have figured out a way to exploit it and my guess is it will reduce the competition against them. It certainly isn’t because they are trying to give their customers the lowest prices possible.
