Hello all! i had been out of the business for some time… and now i see that Nero CD-DVD Speed (Opti Drive Control) is not free… so my question is: is there any freeware alternative? i’m building a new pc with Win 7 64bit…and a new burner of course :stuck_out_tongue:

Other than KProbe (but I have no idea if it works with Win 7) the only free alternative I know is QPxTools. Ev en if this tool was developed mainly for Linux, there is also a windows version

Hello Geno. I remember that KProbe only used to work with Liteon drives, or MTK chip… right…? About QPxTools, i didn’t know there was a windows version. I’m going to check it

Disc Speed (basically CD/DVD Speed) is still available for download on nero.com website. I am not aware of issues on 64bit Windows systems.

If you don’t have a copy of Nero CD/DVD Speed, you can still get the last version over at afterdawn. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cd_dvd/dvd_tools/nero_cd_speed.cfm

Wow, when did that happen?
From standalone free, to Nero badged promo, to $24.95 - oh well, maybe if QPXtools Windows version works ok, we should throw our weight behind that instead.

Sure looks good, now which drives can do the TA scan?

Looks like the free version of DVDinfopro has gone away as well

The one at Nero is later than the one at afterdawn.

Guess this is one to grab and add to our collection
