One of the things that BADBIOS was tagged as doing, sneaking into USB devices.

If the controller is programmable, then it can be programmed with malware.

A tempest in a teapot. You can make the same silly statement about any storage device, even HDD and optical drives. USB drives are accessible to programing, but as long as you don’t buy super cheap Chinese knockoff drives, there’s no reason to worry.

Sounds to me like the REAL issue here is that some German researchers are in need of some funding so they had to come up with a security issue to announce.

@CDan, maybe this isn’t an issue for the general public, but if you have confidential data it might be good to know that any USB device could be a security threat. I guess many companies are aware of e.g the danger of thumb drives but now it means that any USB device could be a potential security hazard.

I guess it’s time for me to join the all Apple Ecosystem. They eschew USB, right? :bigsmile:
