I like to backup my cd's as images and run the game completely from my hard drive , i usually always use alcohol to do this , this saves me wear an tear on originals and is also faster as you lot will know
I recently purchased vietcong for the pc and was having a lot of problems making the image file and tried following the advice given out on here , re blindwrite , twinpeaks and bwa file
The funny thing is all my games have been prevented from running either from the image itself or from the original cd's , i just keep getting the "please insert cd rom " check on boot up , this includes battlefield 1942 , gta vice city and others ,
what's more other games i have tested will not install from original cd's anymore with same cd check error
can anyone shed some light please , i'm well confused , i've had a mess around in the registry deleting entries for blindwrite alcohol etc and uninstalled all copying products on this machine .
i feel like i am being forced into a breach of the terms of the end user licence agreement by being forced into applying cd fixes to get my games to work despite my owning all original copies (and attempting to play the game from them , i find this completely unacceptable and i have to question the legality of whatever piece of software or coding is responsible for this
any help or info anyone could proffer would be greatly appreciated
