hey i just tried to burn a dvd and it did this … first time ever … i dunno wat it is … help please … thx

basicly there are 3 possible reasons for it to happen,the first one is most common
a) the burner dont like the media,firmware upgrading might resolve it and if not then using another media brand will
b) power supply providing too low voltages
c) burner’s laser unit is dirty and needs to be cleaned with compressed air

nero burning log may provide the accurate reason
open C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory.log and copy & paste the latest one but dont include nero’s serial

edit: btw why 2x? your burner supports 8x so its better to use higher speed if the media supports it,2x medias arent easy to find

As far as I know, this is mainly due to cheap media. Try changing brands?

ok … i tried it like 4 times and it didnt work … then i shut down and now i think it works … the burn is not done yet … i burn at 2x cuz i was having problems last week … but that was cuz my hdds were fragmented … so i still just use 2x … and im using ridata … have been using ridata for many months wit no problem … unless its because its full face printables … i dunno … heres the log … oh and how would i clean the laser … i have some compressed air … thx

The Ritek G05 printables are nowhere near the quality of earlier batches. I threw most of mine away.

An 8x rated disk is not going to like being written at 2x. The writer firmware will not be optimised for such a slow speed.

Hopefully by now you’ve defragged your HD.

Also, what TIMC is hinting at, is that you should first try to burn a given media at it’s rated speed, run nero cd/dvdspeed for a quality test, and then possibly try a burn at 2x lower (ie: 8x at 6x, or 16x at 12x), to see if your particular burner/firmware combination prefer burning a given media at a little lower speed. It is not recommended at all to burn way lower than a medias rated speed. If you insist on burning at slow speeds, you need to buy a slower speed burner (ie: 4x burner, 8x burner). That is how most of us learned what speeds to burn different medias at, and which burners prefer certain brands and types of media.
