Which would be the best disc for use in Nec Drives (3500 and 3540 both with the latest official firmware) the AE1 is classed as a 8x Titanium the AM3 is a 16x Titanium made by Datawrite Any comments?
Between those two, I would personally go with the AE1. But then a couple of those European brands use media that often doesn't perform the same as the same media codes in most brands here in the U.S. NECs perform well with CMC media, I prefer their +R media but AE1 has worked well for me.
I've tsted both, and on my NEC 3540A both work well. I'd go with AE1 as that is more proven and has worked on all drives I have tested it with.
On another note, I once bought Titanium 8x AE1 discs, and they were highly variable. I put that down to E-Net who own Datawrite, as they have been known to class B grade discs as A grade.
Just fyi, CMC MAG. AM3 actually uses a Mitsubishi dye
Not sure what AE1 uses.
