Adobe is tracking reading behavior of users of the company’s e-reader application Digital Editions 4, according to the website The Digital Reader. The collected data would also be send unencrypted to Adobe’s servers.

Let me guess… the component that does the most spying is considered by Adobe to be DRM. Anyone who “attempts to circumvent this feature” (or fails to connect to the internet as frequently as Adobe would like) will be charged with copyright/DMCA violation.

Yep. This is a DRM “feature”, which can only be overcome by refusal to use the product as a whole. It’'s almost as if the super-happy-fun-time rootkits found on Sony’s music have returned.
