I recently purchased both a Dell XPS computer and Sony handicam HDD video camera. The Sony comes with very weak video editing software, so I planned to edit using Adobe Premier Elements (XPS version). Unfortunately, while Adobe retrieves the video from my camera, it apparently does not retrieve sound. After over 4 hours on the phone with a Dell rep, and another hour with a Sony rep, they both concluded that the problem is that the AC3 sound format used by Sony is not compatable with Adobe. Can that be right? I thought that AC3 was fairly common, and that Adboe Premier was an advanced editing tool.
Have any of you encountered this problem and, better yet, a fix for it?
